Dermaroller Review | Atsuna Matsui

When I was surfing the internet, I came across an article talking about the benefits of microneedling and how it helps heal acne scars. A device with fine needles creates tiny punctures in the top layer of the skin, which triggers the body to create new collagen and elastin. Supposedly you will see improved texture and firmness, as well as a reduction in scars, pore size, and stretch marks.

I put it to the test and got a dermaroller kit to try it myself at home. My skin has cleared up from the previous acne that I had for the most part, but I’m still left with some hyperpigmentation and acne scars that I wanted to diminish. Unfortunately, after a few days of using the dermaroller, it actually caused my skin to break out even though I sanitized it with alcohol after each use.

I have sensitive, acne-prone skin and the dermaroller just wasn’t suited for my skin type. For now, I’ll be sticking to my collagen supplement and letting my skin heal naturally since I don’t want to further aggravate my skin.

I’m glad you did this review. I have acne prone skin and tons of scars and thought this might go either way for me. It sounds like a great product but i guess it depends on the skin type and how sensistive your skin is!

Nice post!!

Such a bummer that the derma roller broke you out! It’s always disappointing when a much-hyped product doesn’t work.

Oh! So sorry to hear about your breakouts 🙁 I suffered from an acne breakout as well and I’m left with nasty hyperpigmentation. I’ve heard about dermaroller too, but too scared to try it. So I stick to my dermatologist’s advice to have 3 chemical peel procedures. Right now I’m down to my last procedure, I still have a few dark acne scars but they decreased significantly 🙂 I’ll be blogging about it soon.

Thanks for your honest review! I think my sensitive skin would not take too kindly to a mechanical stress like this either.

You have a beautiful skin! Great post!

This looks so interesting!! I’m scared when it comes up the face skin, because it’s so important to have a fresh skin.
